The fixes you control move in days: for ANCFZ, a new homepage title showed in Google 3 days after it went live, and OpenAI says its crawler adjusts to a robots.txt change in about 24 hours. New pages take weeks to be found, and one slip can cost more: a stale sitemap hid 22 new ANCFZ pages for about two weeks. Steady movement in Google and in AI answers takes 60 to 90 days, read in 28-day windows.
Slowest of all is what AI remembers without searching. In our study, only 20.3% of the businesses Gemini named from memory turned up in live-search answers for the same industry. Memory changes when models change, and nobody can rush that.
The short version
| What | How fast | What we saw |
|---|---|---|
| Fixes on your own site: titles, schema, crawler rules, business facts | Same day to a few days | ANCFZ title in Google results 3 days after launch |
| AI crawlers reading a robots.txt change | About 24 hours | OpenAI's own figure for OAI-SearchBot |
| New pages found and indexed | Days to weeks | ANCFZ lost about two weeks to a cached sitemap |
| A new page ranking for a low-competition search | 2 to 3 weeks | Hype's kit list article reached position 6.3 within 18 days |
| Clicks and positions you can trust | 60 to 90 days, read in 28-day windows | ANCFZ commercial position 12.5, then 11.4, then 10.0 |
| Outside mentions, listings and reviews | Weeks to months | ANCFZ's Google Business Profile, approved 14 July, was still not set up on 5 August |
| What AI remembers without searching | Months, at the pace of new models | Only 20.3% overlap between memory and live search |
What moved in days
The ANCFZ pilot shows how fast the controllable parts can go when approvals are quick. On 8 July 2026 we crawled the site and sent the first title rewrites. On 9 July the client approved schema, internal links and AI crawler rules. On 10 July new titles went live on 5 main pages, with FAQ schema for 15 questions, price schema, 32 internal links and robots.txt rules naming 20 AI crawlers. Three days later, Google was showing the new homepage title.
Two cautions from the same week. First, the AI sweep we ran on 10 July already found ANCFZ named or cited for 7 of 12 money questions, before most of our pages existed. That told us where ANCFZ stood, not what we changed. Second, a fix only counts once it is checked: a title that is live in your admin panel but not in Google has not moved anything yet.
On The Setup Collective, every deploy sends IndexNow notices: a shared signal that tells Bing and some other search engines which pages changed, so they can recrawl them sooner. It costs nothing to set up.
What took weeks
Getting found. We published 22 new ANCFZ pages between 10 and 14 July, 6 of them in Arabic. The SEO plugin kept serving an old, cached sitemap without them. The six English money pages got zero impressions from 13 to 26 July. Our recrawl requests hid the problem, because a few pages were still found through links. We caught it on 30 July and resubmitted. Since then we check the sitemap after every publish.
Ranking. On Hype UAE, a back-to-school kit list article went live on 13 August and reached position 6.3 within 18 days. Its target searches were rated close to zero for difficulty. But the same store showed how a miss can hide for weeks: the two main collection pages had no title tag at all, which we missed in our 7 August rewrite and found on 24 September, seven weeks later. A filled description made the pages look finished.
Anything off the site. In the ANCFZ month, the Google Business Profile was approved on 14 July but not set up by the end, and our link plans went back for changes twice. Nothing off the site moved in the month. In our experience AI leans on what other sites say about a business as much as on its own pages, so this is the slow lane.
What took 60 to 90 days
We read Google results in 28-day windows. One week is too noisy: on the ANCFZ site, weekends run about 40% lower than weekdays. ANCFZ's Search Console, before and after:
| ANCFZ, Google Search Console | Before (9 Jun to 6 Jul) | Right after the pilot (6 Aug to 2 Sep) | Latest (13 Sep to 10 Oct) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Non-brand clicks | 280 | 376 | 458 |
| Commercial non-brand position | 12.5 | 11.4 | 10.0 |
| /business-activities/ position | 7.9 | not pulled | 4.2 |
The latest column is shared credit, because the client's own agency kept working after 5 August. Still, the pattern is the useful part: the pilot was one month, and positions kept improving for two months after it. That is why our day-one score gets its real review on day 90, not day 30. One UAE agency's published timeline in our 20 October market scan says much the same, putting first AI citations at roughly 4 to 12 weeks.
Seasons blur all of this. Hype's first 28 days were peak back-to-school season, and clicks went from 278 to 624, mostly brand searches. After the season they fell to 117. The fair check was year on year for the same weeks: 48 clicks in 2025 against 63 in 2026.
Why AI memory lags behind live search
AI tools answer in two ways. Without a web search, they answer from what the model learned in training. With a search, they read pages that fit the question right now. Our study measured the gap on 21 October 2026: Claude with live web search and Gemini answering from memory, on the same 500 UAE questions.
Of the 2,405 business names Gemini gave from memory, only 20.3% appeared anywhere in the live-search answers for the same industry: 25.0% in English, 14.8% in Arabic. The overlap was highest where a few big names dominate and lowest where the market is wide open:
| Industry | Memory names also found by live search | Share of mentions taken by the top 5, memory | Same, live search |
|---|---|---|---|
| Real estate | 50.7% | 37% | 13% |
| Business setup | 46.6% | 39% | 13% |
| Home services | 24.8% | 46% | 10% |
| Education and childcare | 21.9% | 10% | 7% |
| Law firms | 18.0% | 26% | 14% |
| Fitness and wellness | 16.9% | 12% | 6% |
| Aesthetics and dermatology | 16.8% | 15% | 7% |
| Dental clinics | 8.5% | 10% | 10% |
| Restaurants and cafes | 7.3% | 6% | 4% |
| Automotive | 6.1% | 15% | 7% |
Read it this way. Memory is an older list that leans on established names, such as the big brokers and setup firms. Live search answers each question from whatever page fits it best, which is why so many names in live answers appeared only once. Even inside one company the lists move: Gemini, asked the same 19 questions twice, put the same business first only 4 times.
The practical meaning: being found by live search is the part you can change in weeks. Getting into what models remember happens later, as new models learn from what is published now. Consistent facts on your site, your Google Business Profile and your listings, and fresh mentions on other sites, are what the next model will read.
The first 90 days, week by week
| When | What happens | What you can check |
|---|---|---|
| Week 1 | We draft the question list from your sales chats, reviews and search data, and you approve it. Website and Search Console access. Crawl. Day-one score on ChatGPT and Gemini (Google AI), with screenshots. | The list, the score and every saved answer |
| Week 2 | Quick fixes live: AI crawlers allowed in robots.txt and the firewall, titles, schema, one set of business facts. Sitemap checked after every publish. | The pages themselves, and the sitemap |
| Weeks 3 to 4 | First pages for the questions you lose. Google Business Profile work. First re-check on Growth and Authority. | New URLs, each tied to a tracked question |
| Day 30 | First monthly report. Guarantee check: named for at least 3 commercial questions on the approved list, or 100% back. | Screenshots of each answer |
| Weeks 5 to 8 | More pages, real Arabic pages on Growth and Authority, directory listings and review clean-up, first outside mentions. | Re-check results, 28-day Google window |
| Weeks 9 to 12 | Refresh pages that were found but not named. More mentions. Leads counted by source: tagged links, WhatsApp and "how did you find us". | Leads, not just traffic |
| Day 90 | Review against day one, question by question. You choose: keep going, change the plan or stop. | Your call |
What speeds it up
- One person who approves fast. ANCFZ approved our first changes the day after we sent them.
- Facts decided in advance. Prices, hours, areas, licence numbers. AI answers repeat exact facts: the one we recorded for ANCFZ was built from "AED 4,888", "about 2 hours", "fully remote" and "up to 10 activities".
- Access on day one. The Setup Collective still had no Search Console connected at our last check, so we could not see which Google searches it appeared for.
- Checks after every change. Read back the sitemap, the title and the description each time. Both of our slow misses above were checking misses.
- Starting before your season. Keyword Planner shows how sharp UAE peaks are. "business setup dubai" ran from 4,400 searches in August and September 2026 to 22,200 in January 2026. "restaurants dubai marina" ran from 1,900 in March and April 2026 to 8,100 in October, December and January. تصليح مكيفات دبي (AC repair) went from 90 searches in January to 2,400 in June. For TSC, the first guides went live 8 weeks before the first session, and that was too late.
What can't be rushed
- Model memory. It changes with new model releases, on the AI companies' schedule.
- Real reviews. They come from real customers, one at a time. Fake ones are a risk we won't take.
- Sites you don't own. Directories, lists and press move at their own pace.
- Trust for a new domain. A site with no history starts from zero in Google.
- Variation. OpenAI says placement in ChatGPT search is not guaranteed, and answers change from run to run. One good screenshot is not a position.
What we promise, and what we don't
We promise a fixed question list that you approve, a day-one score with screenshots, re-checks on the schedule in your plan, an honest monthly report even when nothing moved, and a day-90 review where you decide what happens next. If you are not named for at least 3 commercial questions within 30 days on the approved list, we refund 100% of what you paid.
We don't promise a date by which ChatGPT will name you first, guaranteed Google rankings, or that AI memory will catch up on any schedule. Plans start at AED 4,500 a month, with a 3-month minimum and no setup fee. To see where you start, take the free AI check, or read the full dated logs on our case studies.
