- Consultants own the results. About 49 of 81 results (60%) were setup consultants' own pages or "top" lists.
- Government pages were missing. Not one of the 81 came from u.ae, the tax authority, the Ministry of Finance or Dubai's economy department, even on tax and mainland questions.
- Free zones won only narrow questions. 10 results were free zone pages, all on tax, e-commerce or remote setup. No review site or Reddit thread appeared at all.
- Wrong facts travel. Two AI summaries built from these results repeated outdated rules. Wrong pages make wrong answers.
An honest note on ANCFZ. In our 10 Jul 2026 sweep, ANCFZ was named or cited in 7 of 12 commercial questions. In this plain web search on 21 Oct 2026, ancfz.ae appeared once in 81 results. Search results and AI answers are not the same thing, and both move. That is why a plan re-checks on a schedule.
The facts founders ask about, as of 21 Oct 2026
Each is checked against an official source. Several consultant pages we read were behind on at least one.
- Owning a mainland company. Since 2021, foreigners can fully own most mainland companies (Federal Decree-Law No. 26 of 2020). "Strategic impact" activities such as defence, banking and telecoms are excluded.
- Corporate tax. 9% on taxable income above AED 375,000, from the first financial year starting on or after 1 June 2023. A Qualifying Free Zone Person pays 0% on qualifying income and 9% on the rest, can't use the AED 375,000 zero band, and must keep audited accounts. Every free zone company must still register.
- Small Business Relief. For revenue of AED 3 million or less. In August 2026 the Ministry of Finance extended it to tax periods ending on or before 31 December 2029. Pages that say it ends in 2026 are out of date. Qualifying Free Zone Persons can't use it.
- Selling to mainland clients. The federal rule on u.ae: a free zone company sells locally through a mainland distributor, or opens a mainland branch or company. Dubai added a route with Executive Council Resolution No. 11 of 2025, and since October 2025 a Free Zone Mainland Operating Permit for Dubai free zone companies: AED 5,000 for six months, renewable, with 9% corporate tax on the related revenue.
- How many free zones. More than 40, says the Ministry of Economy and Tourism.
- Remote setup. u.ae says you apply online through the free zone authority. ANCFZ's own guide says you can sign digitally and get the licence as a PDF with no visit, though a visa needs one visit for biometrics.

What we learned from ANCFZ
ANCFZ (Ajman Nuventures Centre Free Zone) is a free zone where we ran a one-month SEO and AI search pilot in July 2026. The full story is in the ANCFZ case study. Three facts matter for any setup firm:
- 7 of 12. An AI search sweep we ran on 10 Jul 2026 found ANCFZ named or cited in 7 of 12 commercial questions.
- The price led the answer. Answers to "cheapest UAE free zone" led with ANCFZ at AED 4,888. That is the "from" price on ANCFZ's own pages, which we had also put into the page code as price schema.
- A real ChatGPT answer. Our team recorded ChatGPT naming ANCFZ first for "What's the cheapest free zone to set up a company in the UAE?".
The misses were just as useful: ANCFZ was not named for e-commerce, crypto, visa cost or FZE versus FZC questions, so those became the next pages. Every question where a rival is named instead of you is a page you don't have yet.

Reviews and reputation
Founders ask AI "is this company legit?" before paying a deposit. Google Business Profile reviews that name the free zone, the activity and the timeline ("licence and 2 visas in 9 days") match far more questions than "great service". Trustpilot also lists many setup firms. If a free zone lists you as a partner, keep your details there identical to your site. The worst reviews in this industry are about surprise fees, which a full cost page prevents. Google allows you to ask clients for honest reviews, but not to offer anything for them or ask only happy clients.
Why Arabic matters in business setup
- Founders from the Gulf and beyond ask in Arabic, often in dialect. If your answer exists only in English, AI translates it or names a firm that wrote it in Arabic.
- The official words are Arabic. Activities, legal forms and government services have official Arabic names. Pages that use them match how people search.
- AI reads your page code, not your browser translation. A translation plugin leaves no Arabic text for ChatGPT to read. Real Arabic pages do. ANCFZ's work included an Arabic hub and Arabic pages for this reason.
- We have seen ChatGPT cite Arabic. On 20 and 21 Oct 2026, our own tracking on adjoltz.com counted 4 visits from ChatGPT links. One landed on an Arabic blog post.
Common mistakes
- "Packages from AED X" with no breakdown. AI quotes the headline, the founder finds the extras later, and the review is about hidden fees.
- Old prices and old rules. A stale price or a "relief ends in 2026" line gets repeated as if it were current.
- "Top 10 free zones" lists that only include the zones you sell. A fair comparison that admits where another zone is cheaper earns more trust.
- A different company name on every platform. AI may treat a trading name, a legal name and an old brand as three companies.
- Blocking AI crawlers by accident. OpenAI says sites that want to appear in ChatGPT search should allow its OAI-SearchBot crawler. We check this on day one.
