ANCFZ, a free zone in Ajman, brought us in for a one-month SEO and AI search pilot in July 2026. We rewrote its main titles, built 22 new pages (6 in Arabic), added structured data and opened the site to AI crawlers. Searches that did not name ANCFZ brought 376 clicks in the 28 days after the pilot, up from 280, and a ChatGPT answer we recorded names ANCFZ first for the cheapest UAE free zone, though not every pilot target was hit and the client's agency kept working too.
The starting point
ANCFZ (Ajman Nuventures Centre Free Zone) sells business licences in the UAE. Its pitch is price and speed: licences from AED 4,888, issued in about two hours, with a fully remote setup. The site runs on WordPress with the Elementor page builder and the Rank Math SEO plugin.
ANCFZ already had a marketing agency doing its SEO. We came in through that agency for a one-month pilot, 6 July to 5 August 2026. Nothing went live without written approval from the ANCFZ team, and every new page was approved from a full preview.
Our crawl on 8 July found two big problems:
- The homepage ranked around position 7 for "ajman free zone" (6.9 average, 4,278 impressions in 28 days), but the word "Ajman" was in no main page title. The homepage title read "Online Company Registration in UAE | E-commerce license UAE". Only 0.8% of people who saw it for that search clicked.
- The only schema was the basic Organization and WebSite type. Schema is code that tells search engines and AI tools what a page is, without guessing. There was no FAQ, service or price markup.
The baseline, from Google Search Console (Google's free report on a site's search results), 9 June to 6 July 2026: 4,338 clicks, 65,702 impressions, average position 8.8, a 6.6% click rate. Only 280 clicks came from non-brand searches, at 1.32%. Impressions were already sliding: 87,917 in April, 70,937 in June.
The questions that mattered
We wrote down 12 money questions a founder asks before picking a free zone, then ran each one through a live AI web search tool on 10 July, not through the ChatGPT or Gemini apps themselves. "Named" means the answer mentioned ANCFZ. "Cited" means an ancfz.ae page was one of its sources.
| Question (as typed) | ANCFZ named | ancfz.ae cited |
|---|---|---|
| best free zone in Ajman for company setup | Yes | No |
| cheapest UAE free zone license 2026 | Yes, first, at AED 4,888 | No |
| ANCFZ license cost (brand) | Yes | Yes, 6 of 9 sources |
| Ajman free zone company setup cost | No | No |
| best UAE free zone for e-commerce | No | No |
| UAE free zone remote company setup without visiting | Yes, first | Yes, top source (an ancfz.ae blog post) |
| Ajman freezone business activities list | No | Yes |
| UAE free zone license with residence visa cost | No | No |
| how to set up a company in Ajman | No | Yes |
| FZE vs FZC UAE company types | No | No |
| Ajman NuVentures Centre Free Zone review (brand) | Yes | Yes |
| cheapest crypto license UAE free zone | No | No |
That is 7 of 12. Two of the 12 contain the brand name, so the fair non-brand score is 5 of 10. The misses became the content plan: e-commerce, crypto, visa cost and FZE vs FZC answers were going to other free zones and to guide sites.
What we did
| Date (2026) | What shipped |
|---|---|
| 8 Jul | Crawl, Search Console pull, a 30-day plan, first title rewrites sent for approval. |
| 9 Jul | ANCFZ approved schema, internal links and AI crawler rules, rewrote some titles and confirmed the starting price, AED 4,888. |
| 10 Jul | New titles and meta descriptions on 5 main pages. FAQPage schema (15 questions) on the FAQ page. Service and Offer schema on the packages page with the real range, AED 4,888 to 52,200. 32 links from 16 blog posts to the main pages. Robots.txt rules naming 20 AI crawlers. A licence cost page built from ANCFZ's own multi-year price table. |
| 14 Jul | Six English pages for missed questions: e-commerce licence, crypto licence, residence visa cost, FZE vs FZC, business setup cost, setting up from the US or UK. An activities hub with 8 categories, built from the 1,455 activities in ANCFZ's own list. An Arabic hub with 5 right-to-left pages, with hreflang tags (they tell Google which language version to show). |
| 27 Jul | Audit fixes. The theme printed page titles as an empty box, so most pages had no real H1 heading; now each has exactly one. Titles on 19 more pages, descriptions on 16, four utility pages hidden from Google, three thin pages filled out with facts from ANCFZ's own pages. |
| 29 Jul | 8 more thin pages filled out, including the Arabic FAQ. Old date archive pages redirected. |
| 30 Jul | Found the sitemap was missing all 22 new pages (see below). Fixed and resubmitted it. |
| 1 to 3 Aug | Monthly report, pilot scoreboard and handover. |
Two things were already there: robots.txt allowed every crawler, and Rank Math made an llms.txt file (a plain text map of a site for AI tools).
The AI answer
What's the cheapest free zone to set up a company in the UAE?
If cost and speed matter most, these free zones are the usual picks for a small company:
- ANCFZ (Ajman Nuventures Centre Free Zone): licences from about AED 4,888, issued in around 2 hours, with a fully remote setup. You can mix up to 10 activities on one licence.
Two other businesses followed. We don't show their names.
The answer is four facts: a price, a time, a way of working and a limit. All four are in plain words on ANCFZ's pages, and AED 4,888 is the price ANCFZ asked us to use in titles and schema. Be careful with the credit. On 10 July, before most of our pages existed, AI answers to the same question already led with ANCFZ at AED 4,888. What we did was state the same facts the same way on more pages, which leaves an AI tool less room to get them wrong.
Results
Google Search Console, pulled 13 October 2026, 28-day windows.
| Metric | Before (9 Jun to 6 Jul) | Right after the pilot (6 Aug to 2 Sep) | Latest (13 Sep to 10 Oct) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Non-brand clicks | 280 | 376 | 458 |
| Commercial non-brand position | 12.5 | 11.4 | 10.0 |
| Non-brand click rate | 1.32% | not pulled | 2.38% |
| Total clicks | 4,338 | not pulled | 5,032 |
| Average position, all searches | 8.8 | not pulled | 6.7 |
| Site click rate | 6.6% | not pulled | 8.99% |
| Impressions | 65,702 | not pulled | 55,975 |
Page by page (before vs latest): /business-activities/ went from position 7.9 to 4.2 and 1,568 to 1,900 clicks. /packages-and-offers/ went from 8.5 to 5.7. The new licence cost page had 51 clicks from 1,571 impressions at position 4.8.
It was a one-month pilot, and not every target we set for it was hit by the end: clicks, non-brand clicks and non-brand click rate rose but stayed short of the goals, and Google impressions kept falling, a slide that started months before our work (87,917 in April, 70,937 in June). The AI target was beaten: named or cited in 7 of 12 questions against a goal of 5.
Caveats. The agency kept running its own SEO after 5 August, so the latest column is shared credit; our last logged work was 3 August. Google hides many search terms, so the brand split covers named searches only. The AI sweep is one measurement, taken the day our first fixes went live, never re-run. It shows where ANCFZ stood, not a change we caused.
What didn't work, and what we'd do differently
Our first titles used a competitor's name. The first draft on 8 July started every main page title with "Ajman Free Zone", the name of a different, competing free zone. The client caught it at approval, before anything went live. Every title since starts with ANCFZ and says "free zone in Ajman". Learn who the client competes with before writing a single title.
The new pages were missing from the sitemap for about two weeks. The SEO plugin served an old, cached sitemap without the 22 new pages. The six English money pages got zero impressions from 13 to 26 July. Our recrawl requests hid the problem, because a few pages still got found through links. We caught it on 30 July. Now we check the sitemap after every publish.
Nothing off the site moved. The Google Business Profile was approved on 14 July but not set up by the end, and our link plans went back for changes twice. The only lever all month was the site itself. In our experience, AI answers lean on what other sites say about a business as much as on its own pages, so on-site work alone is the weak version of this job.
Impressions kept falling. In July most of the loss was desktop searches from outside the UAE for long, rare phrases, while UAE clicks rose (3,602 in May, 3,703 in July). Still a miss on a target we set.
No before and after for AI. We have one sweep. Today we score an approved question list before touching anything and re-check it on a schedule, so a case like this would have a real AI before and after.
What this means for a business like yours
If you sell on price and speed, like a free zone or a business setup firm, copy the shape of that ChatGPT answer. It is built from exact numbers stated the same way everywhere: from AED 4,888, about two hours, fully remote, up to 10 activities. "Affordable" and "fast" give an AI tool nothing to repeat.
Put the words buyers type in your page titles, place names included. Write one page for each question you are losing, such as "e-commerce licence" or "visa cost". Write Arabic pages for Arabic readers, not through a translator. If a competitor's name is close to yours, keep your own name first in every title.
