Case study

The Setup Collective: AI SEO on our own test ground

The Setup Collective runs Christmas family photo sessions in Dubai. It is run by Melozina Moithooty, Adjoltz's CEO, and we build and run its website, so read this as our own experiment, not an outside client.

The Setup Collective (TSC) is a Christmas family photo studio in Dubai, run by Adjoltz's CEO, Melozina Moithooty, and we build and run its website. Since the new site went live in August 2026 we have built a 15-question FAQ, 45 guide pages, clean crawler rules and search pings on every deploy, and a ChatGPT answer we recorded names TSC first for Christmas family photos in Dubai. But measured search traffic is still small (29 Google visitors and no recorded AI visits from 8 September to 12 October) and bookings came mostly from WhatsApp and social media, so we treat the answer as an early signal, not a result.

Disclosure. TSC is run by Melozina Moithooty, who is also Adjoltz's CEO. Adjoltz built the site and runs its search work. We are not an independent party here, and no outside client signs off our numbers. We publish it because it is where we test things first, and because it shows what a brand-new site can and cannot do in one season.

45guide pages in the sitemap on 21 Oct 2026: 39 journal articles and 6 editorial guides, all published from 24 Sep.
15questions families ask, answered on the FAQ page, from pets to newborns (21 Oct 2026).
29 of 729site visitors came from Google search, 8 Sep to 12 Oct 2026 (Ahrefs Web Analytics).
0visits from AI assistants in the same export, 8 Sep to 12 Oct 2026.

The starting point

TSC designs and builds three Christmas rooms (the Christmas Room, the Christmas Kitchen and Christmas Morning), puts them up in a studio in JLT, and photographs families inside them from 20 November to 14 December 2026. Its three sessions cost from AED 550 (Christmas Mini, children only) to AED 1,650 (The Full Story at the weekend).

The studio photographed families in 2025, and the reviews and photos on the site come from that season. But setupcollective.ae is a new domain. The site went live in late August 2026, built from scratch as plain static pages on Cloudflare, with no search history at all.

The business sells for a few weeks a year. Booking opened in stages in October: families from last year first, then the waiting list, then everyone. So the site had about six weeks to be found before families started booking.

The questions that mattered

The AI question is the one a parent types in autumn: "Where can I get Christmas family photos taken in Dubai?"

On Google, the six editorial guides each target one search: Christmas family photoshoot in Dubai, kids' Christmas photoshoot in Dubai, choosing a family photographer in Dubai, what to wear for Christmas family photos, family photoshoot ideas, and Christmas in Dubai with children.

Then come the questions parents ask before they pay. The FAQ answers them one at a time, in plain words. Can we bring a pet? (Yes, the first one is free.) Do you photograph newborns? What if my child won't cooperate? When do we get the images? Where is it? Can two families come together? Each of these is a question someone could put to ChatGPT, and each has one short answer on the site.

The journal goes wider, to what families plan around Christmas in Dubai: brunch, gifts, matching pyjamas, markets, decorations. Our idea is to meet parents while they plan, before they think about photos. It is an idea we are testing, not a proven result.

What we did

Date (2026)What shipped
23 to 25 AugSite built and live, with the FAQ page, a waiting list form and a WhatsApp confirmation for each sign-up.
8 SepAudit fixes. Removed a broken link that Cloudflare's email protection had added to every page. One address for the site (www now redirects). Homepage title cut from 77 to 56 characters; three descriptions trimmed to under 155. Cloudflare's managed robots.txt (a setting that writes rules for AI crawlers into the file) switched off, so every crawler, AI ones included, now reads a plain "Allow: /". A real 404 page, because unknown addresses had been returning the homepage. A reviews section with five families' words, unedited.
24 SepSix editorial guides and a listing page. Each guide now carries Article, FAQPage and breadcrumb schema (code that tells search engines and AI tools what the page is).
25 SepThe Journal: the first 9 articles. Each now carries BlogPosting schema.
26 SepEvery deploy now sends IndexNow notices for the pages that changed. A sitemap resubmit to Google and a weekly index report are built too; they switch on once Search Console access is added.
4 and 10 OctSeven Christmas planning articles went live on 4 October and came down the same day. They went back up on 10 October with the current dates and offer in the header, menu and footer.
10 OctSeason start moved to 20 November, changed on every page.
13 to 17 OctTen Christmas story articles, three outfit guides (one per room) and ten gift lists from UAE brands.
20 OctA search box on every page. It logs what families type, so we can see their own words. Too new to report on.

The AI answer

Where can I get Christmas family photos taken in Dubai?

For festive family photos in Dubai, these are popular options:

  1. The Setup Collective: a Christmas studio with fully styled festive sets, made for families with young kids. Sessions book out early, so reserve in October.

Two other businesses followed. We don't show their names.

ChatGPT answer recorded by the Adjoltz team in 2026.

Each part of that answer matches something the site says. Styled sets: the three rooms TSC builds. Families with young kids: Christmas Mini and the Christmas Morning room. Book early, in October: booking opened in October, and the homepage says last Christmas sold out. What the answer leaves out is just as telling. It gives no price and no dates, though both are on the homepage today. We would like the next answer to carry them.

Results

There is no before and after here. The site is too new, and Google Search Console was not connected to our account when we last checked (13 October). This is what we can measure.

Caveats. The traffic window ends on 12 October, before most of the content existed: 30 of the 39 journal articles went live from 10 October onward. On adjoltz.com we see ChatGPT tag the links it shares with utm_source=chatgpt.com. No visit in this TSC export carried that tag, so the ChatGPT answer above has not yet shown up as traffic we can count.

What didn't work, and what we'd do differently

We skipped basics we sell to clients. There is no llms.txt file (a plain text map of a site for AI tools); on 21 October the address returned a 404. The FAQ page has 15 answers but no FAQPage schema, although the six editorial guides do. The homepage schema is a bare Organization with a name, a logo and "Dubai": no address, no season dates, no prices. ChatGPT named TSC first anyway, which tells you these files are not the whole story. They are cheap, though, and they are first on our list.

No Search Console data. Without it we can't see which Google searches TSC appears for, or how often. The pipeline to use it is built; the access is not. On a client site, this is day-one work.

The facts kept moving. The season dates changed three times between August and October, and the first change touched about 30 places on the site. AI tools can read any page, including one that still carries an old date. One set of facts, kept in one place and checked across every page, matters more on a site that AI reads.

The content came late. The first guides went live on 24 September, eight weeks before the first session, and most articles went up in mid-October. Google and AI tools take weeks to find and trust new pages. For a seasonal business, we would start in summer.

Search hasn't earned a booking we can show. The bookings we can trace came from WhatsApp messages to last year's families, Instagram and Meta ads, and the waiting list filled mostly from Facebook and Instagram. AI SEO may help families who check before they book, but we have no number for that yet.

What this means for a business like yours

If you run a local service, especially a new or seasonal one, the TSC answer shows what an AI tool picks up: what you are, who it is for, and when to book, said plainly. Write the practical answers customers ask for, one per question, in short sentences. Keep dates and prices the same on every page.

Then do the parts we skipped: connect Google Search Console on day one, add FAQ schema to your FAQ page, and put your address, dates and prices in your homepage schema. And start early. If your season starts in November, the pages should be live by the summer.

Questions people ask

Is The Setup Collective an independent client?

No. It is run by Melozina Moithooty, who is also Adjoltz's CEO, and Adjoltz built and runs its website and search work. We use it to test ideas before we use them on client sites. That is why we label it plainly as our own test ground.

Why would ChatGPT name a studio with a new website first?

We can't prove the cause. Our best guess: the site says what TSC is, where, when and for whom in plain words, on many pages, and the practical questions parents ask are answered one by one. An AI tool has a clear, specific answer to lift.

Did AI SEO bring The Setup Collective bookings?

Not that we can show. Most early bookings came on the day WhatsApp messages went to last year's families. Our analytics for 8 September to 12 October list no visits from AI assistants and 29 from Google search.

Does the site have an llms.txt file?

No. On 21 October 2026 setupcollective.ae/llms.txt returned a 404. ChatGPT named the studio first without one, which shows the file is not required. It is still cheap to add, and it is on our list.

What is IndexNow?

A shared notice that tells Bing and some other search engines which pages on a site changed, so they can recrawl them sooner. The TSC site sends one after every deploy, listing only the pages that changed.
