AI SEO for law firms means getting your firm named when a client asks ChatGPT or Gemini which lawyer to hire for their exact problem, in their city. Law is where AI holds back most: in our UAE study, Claude with live search named no firm on 22% of 50 legal questions, and in our US study a third of the names it gave were individual lawyers, not firms.
What gets a firm named is a page per legal problem and place, lawyers clearly tied to the firm, and complete directory profiles, all inside your bar's advertising rules.
How clients ask AI before they hire a lawyer
Real questions from our two studies, copied word for word. Most describe a problem, a city and often the fee. In the US set, 20 of the 40 English questions were about a specific problem; in the UAE set, 8 of 25 were, and 11 compared firms.
| Question, as asked | Market | Language | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| I need a lawyer for a labour case against my employer in Dubai, who is good? | UAE | English | specific |
| How much does a lawyer cost in Dubai for a rental dispute? | UAE | English | price |
| Best lawyer for a will and inheritance for non-Muslims in Dubai? | UAE | English | specific |
| كم تكلفة المحامي في دبي لقضية إيجار؟ (our translation: how much does a lawyer cost in Dubai for a rental case?) | UAE | Arabic | mixed |
| محامي قضايا شيكات مرتجعة في عجمان؟ (our translation: a bounced cheque lawyer in Ajman?) | UAE | Arabic | mixed |
| How much does a DUI lawyer cost in Houston, and who is good? | US, Houston | English | price |
| I need an employment lawyer for wrongful termination in New York, who is good? | US, New York | English | specific |
| Best tenant rights lawyer in Phoenix? | US, Phoenix | English | specific |
| Which criminal defense attorney in Denver has the best reviews? | US, Denver | English | trust |
| ¿Cuánto cobra un abogado de divorcio en Dallas? (our translation: how much does a divorce lawyer charge in Dallas?) | US, Dallas | Spanish | mixed |
What AI relied on for legal answers: UAE and US
Both studies used the same lens: Claude with Anthropic's live web search, one run per question, on 21 October 2026. We used Claude because it lists every source; our plans track ChatGPT and Gemini (Google AI). Numbers are from our UAE law firm report and US law firm report.
| Claude with live search | UAE (50 questions, English and Arabic) | US (50 questions, English and Spanish) |
|---|---|---|
| Answers naming at least one firm | 78% (39 of 50) | 84% counting firms only; 90% counting individual lawyers |
| Firms named per answer, when any | 3.44 | 3.6 (5.0 counting lawyers) |
| Answers that named no one | 22% | 10% |
| Firms' own and other websites | 89.2% of 464 citations | 28.2% of 458 sources |
| Directories | 3.9% | 55.9% |
| Sources with a "best" or "top" style title | 46.5% in English, 29.5% in Arabic | 32.3% in English, 5.6% in Spanish |
| Most cited sites | lawyer-alaa-aljasmi.com (25), en.wikipedia.org (22), lawyer-in-uae.com (17) | LawInfo (59), Avvo (47), Abogado.com (31) |
| Court, bar or ministry pages cited | None | None |
| Second language | 97.4% of Arabic citations were Arabic pages | 62.2% of the sources behind Spanish answers were Spanish pages |
- Two markets, two first moves. UAE answers were built from firms' own pages. US answers were built from directories. The most cited UAE site was one firm's set of Arabic pages, one per problem and emirate, cited in 13 answers.
- Memory and search disagree. In the UAE, Gemini answering from memory named Al Tamimi & Company in 24 of 50 answers; Claude with live search named it in 3. Big names win memory; pages win search.
- Place names go wrong. 6 of the 25 English UAE answers were about the United States, because the search read Business Bay as the San Francisco Bay Area and JVC as US places. A US Boston answer noted listings for Boston, Kentucky and Boston, Georgia. Write the city with its state or emirate, in full.
Best tenant rights lawyer in Phoenix?
The search didn't turn up a ranking of the "best" tenant lawyer in Phoenix. It returned a LawInfo directory with many Phoenix-area tenant rights attorneys, and some of its listings are labeled sponsored.
Ten sources, no names: the directory pages it read showed none it could use. All three English US hedges were built mostly on LawInfo pages, so the space is open for a firm whose own page answers the question.
What a law firm should publish
Schema, below, is code in the page that tells machines what the page is. For a firm that means the LegalService type with your address and the areas you serve, plus an entry for each lawyer that names the firm they work for.
| Page | What it must say | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Practice area and city, such as "Tenant rights lawyer in Phoenix, Arizona" or "Labour claims against an employer in Dubai" | The problem in plain words, which law applies, the steps, how long it takes, who at the firm handles it, the city with its state or emirate | Live answers in both markets were built question by question from pages that matched one problem and one place |
| Lawyer profile | Bar admissions by state, or the courts they can appear before in the UAE, practice areas, languages, a link to the firm | A third of US names were individual lawyers; some UAE answers led with a named lawyer |
| Fees | How you charge (flat, hourly, contingency), the cost and length of a first consultation, dated ranges where you can give them | DUI cost answers quoted exactly these fields from Avvo. The UAE rental dispute answer gave US dollar hourly rates and named no firm. Both Spanish divorce fee questions found nothing to quote |
| Office page | Full address, which lawyers work there and where each is licensed | Three US answers flagged city pages showing lawyers licensed in another state |
| Second language pages | The same problem pages in Spanish or Arabic, written by a person, with the city and state or emirate | 62.2% of the sources behind Spanish legal answers were Spanish pages; 97.4% of Arabic citations were Arabic |
First, the basics: OpenAI says a site must allow its OAI-SearchBot crawler to be eligible for ChatGPT search, and your text must be in the HTML. Our AI readiness study shows what cited sites get right. For UAE depth, see AI SEO for law firms in the UAE.
The directories and review sites that matter
- US: LawInfo (59 citations), Avvo (47), Abogado.com (31, Spanish), Expertise.com (23), USLegal and FindLaw (16 each) and Best Lawyers (11). For business law, UpCounsel profiles supplied the lawyers named in the Denver and Phoenix startup answers. 48 of 50 US answers cited at least one directory.
- UAE: mostly firms' own sites, then guide and list sites such as lawyer-in-uae.com (17) and an Arabic "20 best lawyers in Dubai for 2026" list on ar.lawyersdubai.ae (8), plus lawzana.com (6) and Legal 500 (4).
- Reviews were talked about, not read. In the US legal answers, 1 mentioned Yelp and 5 pointed to Google reviews; 2 cited a Google business page. Clients still check them before they call.
- Paid awards backfire. US answers called one firm's directory award "self-promoted", and paid guest posts ended up in the spam layer.
Marketing rules that apply to law firms
A summary, checked against the sources below on 22 October 2026. It is not legal advice; your own bar or regulator has the final word.
- US, ABA Model Rule 7.1: a lawyer shall not make a false or misleading communication about the lawyer or the lawyer's services, including one that leaves out a fact needed to keep it from misleading. States adopt their own versions.
- Rule 7.2: a lawyer may not give anything of value to a person for recommending the lawyer's services, though paying the reasonable cost of advertising is allowed. A lawyer may not claim to be a certified specialist unless certified by an approved or ABA-accredited body that is named in the ad. Every ad must name at least one lawyer or firm responsible for it.
- Rule 7.3: no live person-to-person solicitation for profit, with narrow exceptions. If you use automated follow-ups for leads, check them against your state's version first.
- Texas, a stricter state: ads must name a responsible lawyer and the primary practice location, and statements must not create unjustified expectations about results. An ad that mentions contingency fees must say whether the client pays other costs, and an advertised fee must be honoured while the ad runs, up to a year. Ads are filed with the State Bar's Advertising Review Committee within 10 days; on a website only the homepage needs filing, but every page must comply.
- England and Wales: the SRA Transparency Rules make firms that offer services such as residential conveyancing, uncontested probate, immigration applications and employment tribunal claims publish cost information on their website, including the total or typical range, the basis of charges and what is included.
- UAE: Cabinet Resolution No. 8 of 2025 (Article 34) bans promotion through intermediaries, any hint of influence or connections, and false, misleading or fabricated information on social media or any other means. Article 35 lists a sign at the firm, letterhead, the firm's own website and its own social media channels as the ways a lawyer may promote.
- Reviews, everywhere you sell in the US: the FTC's 2024 rule bans fake reviews, paying for reviews that say something in particular, and using threats to get negative reviews removed.
What we would do, month by month
- Day 1. We agree the commercial questions with you, by practice area and city: "wrongful termination lawyer in Houston", not "best law firm". We record who AI names today, with screenshots, and name the lawyer who signs off pages.
- Month 1. Site fixes so AI can read you: crawler access, LegalService and lawyer schema, one name, address and phone everywhere, your Google Business Profile. Then the first pages: top practice areas by city, a fees page, and a profile for every lawyer with bar admissions.
- Month 2. The long tail: one page per specific problem your clients name, such as bounced cheques, tenant deposits or green card delays. On Growth and Authority we clean up your directory profiles so names and practice areas show as plain text. Day 30 is the guarantee check.
- Month 3. Mentions on trusted outside sites, earned with useful guides, never bought (Growth and Authority). We rewrite pages based on what the answers repeated or got wrong.
- Day 90. We compare your score with day one. You keep going, change the plan or stop.

The audit is 100% credited to month one if you sign within 30 days. Every plan includes traditional SEO and Google Business Profile work, runs month to month with no lock-in and no setup fee, and is 10 to 15% off when you pay yearly. USD details are at adjoltz.com/us; AED prices are on our homepage.
Which plan fits a law firm. A US firm that works in English and keeps its own directory profiles current can start on Foundation. If you want us to do the directory work, which carried most US answers, that is Growth; Growth also tracks Arabic, which helps only if you serve Arabic speakers. For a UAE firm, Growth is the usual fit, because Arabic answers were led by firms with Arabic problem pages, and Growth includes our ready question list for law firms.
How we work. Adjoltz is a Dubai team (Adjoltz FZE, Ajman Free Zone licence 58339) with no office outside the UAE. We work remotely on WhatsApp and email, with video calls for the day-one and day-90 reviews, and invoice in USD or AED from the UAE. We need access to your site, Search Console and Google Business Profile, and one lawyer who approves pages quickly. We write in English, and in Arabic on Growth and Authority. We do not write or track Spanish pages; since 62.2% of the sources behind Spanish legal answers were Spanish pages, a native Spanish writer is worth adding if your clients ask in Spanish.
Our guarantee. In the first 30 days of any plan, if ChatGPT, Gemini (Google AI) or Google's AI answers do not name you for at least 3 commercial questions on the list you approved, or you are unhappy for any other reason, we refund 100% of what you paid, in cash, within 7 working days. No lock-in after that. The rules are on our guarantee page.
What we don't promise
- That you will be first on ChatGPT. OpenAI says placement in ChatGPT search "is not guaranteed".
- Guaranteed Google rankings.
- Paid places on "best lawyer" lists, or awards bought in your name.
- Fake reviews, or reviews paid for a good rating.
- Cases, clients or a set number of calls.
- Legal or compliance advice. We write; a lawyer at your firm approves, under your bar's rules.
- An office outside the UAE, or a partnership with OpenAI, Google or Anthropic. We have none.
