AI names home service companies almost every time, but the two lenses we tested gave very different lists. Answering from memory, Gemini named the same few booking apps again and again: ServiceMarket in 30 of its 44 answers, Urban Company in 26 and JustLife in 23. With live search, Claude never named ServiceMarket and named Urban Company only 6 times. It named small local firms instead, taken straight from their own websites.
That is the opening. 91.3% of the pages Claude cited were businesses' own sites, the highest share of all 10 industries in our study, and only 22.1% had a "best of" style title. A cleaning, AC or pest control firm with a clear page for each service and area can be found. The weak spot is Arabic: Claude named no one on any of the 4 Arabic emergency plumber questions.
What we asked AI about home services
We wrote 50 questions the way UAE residents ask them: 25 in English and 25 in Arabic, across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman. They cover cleaning, maids, AC repair, pest control, movers, villa maintenance, handymen and plumbers. The English set had 8 comparing questions, 7 urgent ones ("today", "emergency"), 4 about price, 4 about a specific job and 2 about trust. The Arabic set mirrors those types. Here are 12 of them, word for word.
| Question | Language | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Best cleaning company in Dubai Marina? | English | Compare |
| AC repair near Sharjah today? | English | Urgent |
| Most reliable maintenance company in Jumeirah for villas? | English | Compare |
| How much does deep cleaning cost in Dubai and who is good? | English | Price |
| Best pest control company in Dubai for cockroaches? | English | Specific job |
| Which movers in Dubai are best for moving a 2 bedroom apartment? | English | Specific job |
| Which handyman service in Dubai Hills has the best reviews? | English | Trust |
| Emergency plumber in Downtown Dubai? | English | Urgent |
| Affordable part-time maid service in Al Nahda? | English | Price |
| أفضل شركة تنظيف في دبي مارينا؟ (Best cleaning company in Dubai Marina?) | Arabic | Compare |
| سباك طوارئ في الخليج التجاري؟ (Emergency plumber in Business Bay?) | Arabic | Urgent |
| تصليح مكيفات قرب عجمان اليوم؟ (AC repair near Ajman today?) | Arabic | Urgent |
Which companies did AI name most often?
This table shows how many answers named each company, out of 50 for Claude and 44 for Gemini. We merged spellings of the same name, including Arabic and Latin versions. Arabic names are shown as the answers wrote them. This is what two AI assistants said on one day, 21 October 2026. It is not our ranking and not an endorsement of any company.
| Company | Claude, live search (of 50) | Gemini, from memory (of 44) |
|---|---|---|
| ServiceMarket | 0 | 30 |
| Urban Company | 6 | 26 |
| JustLife | 4 | 23 |
| Fixperts | 0 | 13 |
| Hitches & Glitches | 0 | 8 |
| Helpsters | 0 | 6 |
| شركة حكايه كلين | 5 | 0 |
| شركة الصعيدي كلين | 4 | 0 |
| شركة ركن التطور | 4 | 0 |
| شركة بيور كلين | 4 | 0 |
| Hello Cleaner | 3 | 0 |
| Handyman.ae | 3 | 0 |
The two lists barely touch. Gemini's memory is the most concentrated of all 10 industries in the study: its five most-named companies took 46% of all its mentions. In Claude's live search, the top five took 10%. ServiceMarket, Urban Company and JustLife are app-based booking services; we counted them because the answers presented them as the company to call.
From memory, Gemini put ServiceMarket first in 8 answers, including questions about an emergency plumber and AC repair "today". Live search went the other way. For "AC repair near Al Barsha today?", Claude named six firms, none of them an app, and listed their phone numbers and same-day offers as written on their own pages.
The lenses shared even one company on only 5 of the 40 questions both answered with names (12.5%), and on none of the 15 Arabic ones. Of all the company names Gemini gave from memory, 24.8% appeared anywhere in Claude's live-search answers. Gemini even disagreed with itself: asked "Best cleaning company in Dubai Marina?" twice, about 20 minutes apart, it put different companies first and its two answers shared one name.
Where the answers came from
Claude cited 470 pages for these 50 answers, 9.4 per answer. Home services leans on businesses' own websites more than any other industry we tested.
| Type of source | Share of 470 citations |
|---|---|
| Company websites and other sites | 91.3% |
| Directories and listings | 4.9% |
| Wikipedia | 2.3% |
| Review platforms | 0.4% |
| Social media and forums | 0.6% |
| News and media | 0.4% |
The most-cited sites were small. In English answers they were firms' own pages: urbancompany.com (8 citations), hellocleaner.ae (5), drainpro.ae (4), contractorsuae.com (4). In Arabic answers they were Arabic-language company sites: abrajclean.com (10), mzlat.com (9), malekclean.com (8), tshteebat.com (7). One Arabic answer about cleaners in Dubai Marina took 5 of its 9 sources from a single site, mzlat.com.
The answers copied the useful facts on those pages almost word for word:
- 21 of the 50 answers included a phone or WhatsApp number.
- Prices: "Rates start at AED 25 per hour" for a part-time maid in Al Nahda, and "AED 100 diagnostic" with an engineer "at your door within 60 minutes" for AC repair in Sharjah.
- Approvals: one pest control firm was described as "Dubai and Sharjah Municipality-approved".
- Reviews: a handyman firm "with a 5-star rating based on 33,885 reviews".
Wikipedia's 11 citations were all in Arabic answers, and they were pages about unrelated companies and places, which is what the search falls back on when good Arabic pages are missing.
What this means. In most industries, AI leans on "best of" lists written by other people. In home services it reads your own page and repeats it. If your page says the area, the service, the price, the response time and the number to call, live search has everything it needs to name you.
English vs Arabic
| English | Arabic | |
|---|---|---|
| Claude: answers naming at least one company | 100% | 80% |
| Claude: companies per answer | 4.9 | 4.1 |
| Claude: hedged (named no one) | 0% | 20% |
| Gemini: answers received | 25 | 19 |
| Gemini: companies per answer | 5.0 | 4.3 |
| Claude: list-style share of cited pages | 32.7% | 10.7% |
All 5 of Claude's hedges were Arabic. One was the deep cleaning cost question, where it gave price ranges but named no company. The other 4 were every Arabic emergency plumber question we asked: Business Bay, Ajman, JVC and Sharjah. The 3 English emergency plumber questions each got 4 or 5 named plumbers. Gemini, from memory, named companies on all 3 of those Arabic plumber questions it answered.
Arabic answers used Arabic pages when they could find them: 95.1% of their citations were Arabic pages. They just found fewer good ones, and many of those were cleaning company sites.
English had its own place problem. Two English questions about Business Bay pulled in pages about the San Francisco Bay Area. For a handyman in Business Bay, Claude said its "search results are returning information about handyman services in the San Francisco Bay Area" and searched again. For sofa and carpet cleaning in Business Bay, most of its 10 sources were US pages such as HomeAdvisor, and it named one company.
Three real answers
AC repair near Al Barsha today?
Claude, live search, named first: AtoZ Appliances Repair, Jabal Albaz Technical Services, Dubai Cool Experts, with phone numbers and "same-day" offers from their pages.
Gemini, from memory, named: Justlife, Mr. Usta, Urban Company.
No company in common.
أفضل شركة تنظيف في دبي مارينا؟ (Best cleaning company in Dubai Marina?)
Claude, live search, named first: شركة الصعيدي كلين، شركة حكايه كلين، Pure Shine. 5 of its 9 sources were one Arabic site.
Gemini, from memory, named first: JustLife, ServiceMarket, Helpsters Cleaning Services.
سباك طوارئ في قرية جميرا الدائرية؟ (Emergency plumber in JVC?)
Claude, live search: named no one. It said the results "did not contain specific, detailed information" about emergency plumbing in JVC and told the user to look for licensed plumbers.
Gemini, from memory, named first: Helpbit, Urban Company, Mr. Usta.
The last answer is an empty slot. A plumber with a real Arabic page for "سباك طوارئ" in JVC, with hours and a number, had no competition in live search that day.
What it costs to buy this attention instead
If you skip AI answers and pay for the top of Google, this is the price. Figures are average monthly searches and the top-of-page bid range from Google Ads Keyword Planner, UAE, 21 Oct 2026.
| Search | Monthly searches (UAE) | Competition | Top-of-page bid range |
|---|---|---|---|
| movers dubai | 12,100 | Medium | AED 17.78 to 49.19 |
| cleaning company dubai | 9,900 | High | AED 10.42 to 29.38 |
| pest control dubai | 8,100 | High | AED 13.30 to 29.11 |
| ac repair dubai | 2,900 | Medium | AED 16.00 to 45.00 |
| تصليح مكيفات دبي (AC repair Dubai) | 720 | Medium | AED 7.72 to 25.00 |
| شركة تنظيف دبي (cleaning company Dubai) | 140 | Medium | AED 10.37 to 23.32 |
These are the most expensive clicks in our five consumer reports. At the top of the range, 100 clicks on "movers dubai" cost about AED 4,919, and 100 on "ac repair dubai" about AED 4,500. AC demand is also seasonal: "ac repair dubai" went from 1,600 searches a month in November 2025 to January 2026 up to 4,400 a month from May to July 2026, and the Arabic AC search went from 90 in January 2026 to 2,400 in June 2026. Clicks get dearer exactly when you are busiest.
An AI answer has no click price. It also has no slot you can buy. The only way onto that list is to be the page the assistant finds, or a name it remembers.
What a home services company should do
- Build one page per service per area. "AC repair in Al Barsha", "deep cleaning in JLT", "pest control for cockroaches in Deira". Live search answered question by question, and pages that matched the exact service and area were the ones it quoted.
- Put the facts in plain text. Price or starting price, response time, opening hours, the areas you cover and your phone or WhatsApp number. 21 of 50 answers repeated a phone number, and several repeated a starting price word for word. Text the assistant can read beats an image or a PDF.
- Write real Arabic pages, starting with urgent jobs. Every Arabic emergency plumber question went unanswered in live search. Name the area and city in both scripts ("الخليج التجاري، دبي").
- Say what you are approved for. If you hold a municipality approval for pest control, or a trade licence for the work, state it on the service page. One answer repeated exactly that kind of line.
- Treat booking apps as a channel, not your name. From memory, Gemini sent most questions to ServiceMarket, Urban Company and JustLife. If you take jobs through them, keep that profile complete, but the answer names the app, not you. Your own pages are what got independent firms named.
- Check more than one assistant, every month. Ask your 10 real customer questions on ChatGPT and Gemini, in English and Arabic, and write down who gets named. The lists differ too much for one check to tell you anything.
If you want this done for you, our free AI check runs your questions on ChatGPT and Gemini and shows you who gets named instead of you. We don't promise you will be first on every list, and no one honestly can, because the lists change from day to day.
Method and limits
How we did it. On 21 October 2026 we asked 500 real UAE buyer questions, 50 per industry (25 English, 25 Arabic). Lens 1 was Claude with live web search, which answered all 500 and listed its sources. Lens 2 was Gemini Flash-Lite through the Gemini API, answering from memory without live search; it answered 478 before the free tier's daily limit, including 44 of the 50 home services questions. We coded every business named with one rule set, leaving out platforms and directories, government bodies, product brands and named people. App-based service brands were kept when the answer presented them as the provider.
Limits. One day and one run per question, and AI answers change daily. Claude's search runs on a US-based index, which may explain the Bay Area results. Neither lens is exactly what a customer sees in the ChatGPT or Gemini apps. Names were matched with simple rules, so overlaps are lower bounds. We did not check that every named company is licensed or still trading. The full method is in the UAE AI visibility study.
